Merton Vintage and Classic Rally
11am – 5pm. Clinton Hall, Merton, EX20 3EQ on the A386 W3W showering.fortnight.contents
https://www.facebook.com/MertonVintageAndClassicVehicleRallyAndFayre
From the Organisers
Last year, we were delighted with the attendance, and we were able to raise over £6000 which was divided
equally between our chosen charities: The North Devon Hospice and The Devon Air Ambulance. We very much look forward to another enjoyable day enabling you to show your exhibit and have the opportunity to catch up with old friends. This year we are again going to raise funds for the same two very important local Charities in memory of Chris Laughton and all our friends and loved ones who sadly we have lost along the way.
Please note that all communications this year will be by email only, due to high costs regrettably we are unable to continue using the post for our fundraising mailings. This event will be from 11am – 5pm and we are inviting you to bring along your amazing exhibit for everyone to see.
If you would like the opportunity to ‘parade’ your exhibit whilst at the Rally Around (parade will take place at 3pm) it is
very important that you also indicate this on the booking form. Once your booking form has been received and accepted those who wish to parade will be emailed a ‘P’ entry pass which MUST be clearly displayed. Those who do not wish to parade will be emailed a ‘S’ entry pass and will be parked separately as static show exhibits. Obviously, we have limited space and entries for both parade and show bookings will be accepted on a first received basis. Of course, any entries received after our capacity has been reached will be notified accordingly. Please complete the enclosed booking form to let us know that you wish to come along with your exhibit and please ensure you indicate your intentions in respect of parading. Please return your booking form to us by Saturday 13th April 2024 at the latest, either in the post or by email to mertonrallydevon@gmail.com Whilst at the Rally Around you will of course have the opportunity to buy refreshments; tea/coffee, indulge in a delicious Hog Roast or Devon Pasty, or alternatively enjoy afternoon tea/cake and ice creams. Our bar is always open to help ‘quench your thirst’. We will have a number of interesting stalls for you all to wander around, along with all the amazing array of cars, motorcycles, tractors and engines to view at your leisure. We respectfully ask you to ‘Give a Donation’ to The North Devon Hospice &The Devon Air Ambulance at the entrance and there will be a number of collection buckets located and circulating throughout the day. We are sure you will agree that we all know families and friends who have been helped, supported and cared for by these local Charities. We very much look forward to hearing from you shortly and of course meeting up with you all on the day itself,
Sunday 5th MAY 2024, and help us to help these very worthy causes.

Powderham Historic Vehicle Gathering
Club EventOne of the major events this year will be our Club stand at the Historic Vehicle Gathering at Powderham Castle, Kenton near Exeter.
The club will once again pay entry fees for DA7C members who display their cars on our Stand. You can exhibit on one or both days and cars can be left on the stand overnight on Saturday or driven to and from the venue. Space is also available for trailer parking.
The show is organised by the Crash Box & Classic Car Club of Devon Ltd, and is widely recognised as one of the very best in the country. It offers a huge range of attractions and displays for all members of the family. Have a look at their website www.historic-vehicle-gathering.info ,it really is a great day out.
July may seem a long way in the future, but with the amount of planning necessary for an event of this size, entries need to be in early and the latest date for reserving a space on our stand is Friday 31st May, so please don’t delay.
An entry form has been sent with the Club newsletter and should be filled in and sent as soon as possible.

Midsummer Road Challenge
An interesting event for all longer distance devotees.
RHS Rosemoor Vintage and Classic Weekend
We are, once again, invited to this year’s Vintage Weekend at RHS Garden Rosemoor .
Now in its 14th year the weekend has proved a very popular event with Vintage Vehicles, Motorcycles, Tractors, Caravans and Steam Engines. In 2023, the event attracted over 2400 visitors a day making it one of the biggest events of their calendar and their biggest show since its creation twelve years ago.
The event will be located at the Arboretum Lawn on Lady Anne’s side of the garden, which will gives a beautiful backdrop to the vehicles on display. We will issue you with more details about getting on and off site closer to the time.
There is a small café and toilets available at this side of the garden, and it is a couple of minutes’ walk to the visitors building where the main restaurant is located. There will also be a food and beverages area closer to the vehicle displays following on from feedback received from exhibitors and visitors.
It is a free to enter event for vehicles, and provides entry to all of Rosemoor Garden for you and a guest. There will be a exhibitor’s pop up beverages tent, where there will be free teas and coffees and separate portable toilets will be available just for exhibitors.
Onsite are provided for overnight stays for those of you that have caravans, vans or mobile homes. There will be a professional security person on site for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you wish to stay onsite on the Friday, Saturday and (or) Sunday, please remember to state it on the vehicle entry form. There are no shower facilities but there is a toilet block you are welcome to use. You will be issued with an overnight pass and given instructions on where you are able to pitch up your vehicle.
As the event is hosted inside of the garden, it is the RHS policy of strictly no dogs, unless they are registered assistance dogs.
Note from Organisers
After some confusion last year with people arriving after 10am and wanting to leave before 4pm, please could I ask that you are happy to exhibit between these hours. We really need to ensure all of you are safe, motorists using the main road are safe and also that our visitors are safe.
Please let Nick Borst-Smith know the days you have entered to enable enough space to be reserved for the Club and mark your Entry Form “Devon Sevens”
